Think!

Think.

Is there a more provocative word than this?  I dont feel that there is anything else that I can say to describe this commercial.

Think.

Just slowing down a little may mean life and death for someone.

Think.

The faster you go, the harder it is to stay on the road.

Think.

If you cared to follow they would still be alive.

While I agree that children dying in car accidents is devistating, let’s call a spade, a spade. I am absolutely certain that not all of these children died in accidents that were the fault of the driver of the other car. People who drive with children in the car, are the single most distracted drivers on the road. They are traveling at 85mph in the slow lane, while reaching behind their seats to hand something to their children, clean a mess the child made, etc. Had all of the drivers of the cars that these children were in, been paying attention, perhaps the children would still be here. The driver would have had time to react. Put the blame on EVERYONE who deserves it. Since you’re supportive enough to post the story, I hope you can answer the following questions:

Of the children who died, how many of those accidents were the fault of the driver that had the kids in the car?
How many of the parents driving their kids around, were so distracted that they changed lanes without signaling, and were hit by another car traveling at well within the speed limit?
Of these children, how many of their carseats were properly secured? How many were wearing the additional “across the lap” belt?
If you can’t answer any of these questions, you should delete this post.

Even if you go 1 mph its the damn kids parent who are the irresponsible ones since you see kids try to dash in front of the car to see if they can beat it and this is what happens. The road is not a place to play on and tp these kids and their parents, they think its a playground. This is a double edge sword, hyped by the sad media.

The purpose of this article is to provoke thought and not to point fingers. Doing so will not change the results one bit.

Just an added note, the first few names written were hit by a speeding semi-truck who failed to yield the right of way at the legally stopped bus stop.

The next ones were killed in a collision when a tractor crashed their car. Both were ejected from the car.

There is no suggestion that the parents of these children were not at fault. The article poses the responsibility on all drivers. For speed kills both those out and inside a car.

    Hope that answers questions.

It is so sad that people forget that they were once kids and they cried, yelled and did what all babies do.So if they were parents which it sound like they are not, they would have compassion and concern for these children. Just think if this was one of your family members listed up their, do you want some one to tell you to get a grip. Come ON! All they are asking for is help , concern and think the next time you take that drink and go out and drive be responsible. Don’t drive and Drink! Kevin do you have kids? IF you do Ihope you are as perfect as prote yourself.

I see every morning in school speed zone, people not driving the speed limit and zipping around cars that are driving the limit. And seen a cross walk office almost get hit at the same cross walk when the light was red. So its all the kids fault or parents. Its people not paying attention to the road while driving, either on a cell phone, reading newspaper, putting on makeup or whatever. Was in service overseas and was taught to be defensive drive because Americans were professional drivers and should not hit and/or be in accidents. And most the time it ending up be the Service personnel fault. So Learn alot from that experience and those defense driving habits here.

    Kevin,

Can you not see that the statements you make are highly judgemental and so generalized. These are statements you perceive in a very arrogant attitude which only indicates very low self esteem. I am in no way saying that there are NOT parents out there driving with their children. I am saying you are honing in one type of person. Do you know how many children are maimed and or killed by drunk drives? Do you know how many children are hit by some people that are workaholics – to the point where they are suffering from sleep deprivation and cannot keep their eyes open to drive home? What about the aggressive drivers who ride right on the bumper of the car in front of them? Do you think they are just like that on the highways? They have to get wherever they are going faster and faster and many times, it is just a means of thinking they are ‘in control’. I lived in an area where the sign on one of the highways read ‘Beware of aggressive drivers’ I thought I was seeing thing. They don’t want to stop the aggressive drivers – they want other people to watch otu for them and enable them to continue to drive as they do – weaving in and out of traffic – like they are in a live computerized game. There are numerous reasons children are hit by cars – it is NOT ONE type of person. Multitudes of people in this country are control freaks – who will go to any length to be ‘right’. What does that serve them? And, I am not ‘off topic’ here because every single discussion group I read about an article is full of people engaging in conflict with one another. There was this brief moment in time – after September 11, 2001 – when the people in this country came together. And, even then it was not the entire country. But as the memories slowly started to fade of that day – people resort back to their judgementalism, their over inflated ego, their drive for power and money and the list goes on and on and on. I have had my moments just like everyone else when I have done things that weren’t appropriate or ‘right’ and I also learned that I needed to take responsibility for my actions and not point the finger at everyone else. There is soon to be a MAJOR change in this world – that millions of people are completely unaware of – or if they have heard something about it – they judge the idea, they judge the people who said it, so there is really no point talking to people such as yourself who are so close minded, who look at life through a tunnel – it’s very sad. And, what NEVER ceases to amaze me is to see certain people in certain countries or a part of that country, who are poor, they have nothing of material value – they want nothing of material value. They choose to live their lives in peace and practice loving kindness every single moment of their lives. I have seen such people in this country and even though – they have been shown hatred, disrepect of their prinicples, etc. – they still choose to pray for the people that have hurt them. And, it’s not about being religious – it’s about living from your heart instead of from your ego. Why don’t you try and organize a group to help other people to recognize that this happens? Do your part in the solution and don’t stay in the problem. Every single living human being is born as an innocent little soul and their lives and the way they live it are either taught to them by their parents who learned it from their parents, etc. or they have chosen to live the life they do and then go on to project negativity, hatred and judgementalism. And people wonder why the world is like it is…..

So what this ad is saying is that we should hit kids at 30mph? Wouldn’t it make much better sense to just not hit them at all?
